The Ballad of the Princess

As the lonely princess gazed down from her tower,
She saw a wondrous sight.
There was a knight in shining armor,
And she watched as he watched her.

As a bell tolled somewhere in the West,
The knight turned 'round,
And galloped away on his majestic black horse.

The princess stared after, hoping for a glimpse,
Hoping by some, small chance to gaze at the knight again.
The bell still tolled as the sun set,
But the princess didn't see her armored prince.

The next day came and went,
But the princess saw naught of the knight.
As she climbed down her tower to sup,
She cried out in joy, for she saw the knight again.

The chivalrous knight was indeed a prince,
His features handsome and noble
And his manners polite and just.
The two talked and laughed until the afternoon was spent.

The princess and prince's eyes always shone,
And they were head-over-heals in love.
The two lovers spent all their time together,
And were happy that their love was made known.

The wed on a bright summer's day in a meadow,
The festivities cheerful and merry.
The two danced together
Until they were alone.

What had been found that day was true love,
No one could ever deny this.
Fear not, young hearts!
You're time will come!
Just something I wrote the other day, and thought was good for Valentine's Day. And guess what, this is the second ballad I've ever written!!!! I'm very proud! ^^
